-2. That’s what the temperature is outside as I write this. Or freezing. Worse still, I have the windows open to get rid of the condensation. So I’m sitting here, wrapped in my duvet, listening to Mumford & Sons, planning warmer clothes. As the weather gets steadily worse, my desire to sew gets bigger since really, what else is there to do when it is below 0 outside? Not only that, but my lovely mother has sent a package of thick fabric-y goodness. Wools, double knits, wool crepes, heaven! She also sent patterns! PATTERNS! Something I have been far too cheap to buy for myself since “I could just draft that myself” or “Burda Magazine is free to borrow from the library, I’ll just get a pattern there”. I am now the proud owner of Simplicity Amazing fit 2648, New Look 6824, Burda 7536 (more for summer than now), New Look 6000 and an old one Mum had lying at home, Butterick 9 sew Fast and Easy 5015.

With all my new loot, I have ambitious plans to make quite a few things for Winter, as well as making a lot of Christmas gifts, because that’s right guys, Christmas is right around the corner.

Here’s the plan;

Houndstooth wool! I was so excited when I saw it and I knew that it would be perfect for a mini. What else?!

The red fabric that my Mum picked out for the amazing fit dress is more or less the same colour as the one on the cover of the pattern. I always loved the colour so no problems there.

The dress from New Look will be a gift for my boyfriend’s mother. She has been amazing ever since I moved here so I wanted to make her something really nice for Christmas. I think the black fabric I have is a crepe, but it really could be anything since I am useless when it comes to fabric names.

I have sewn SOMETHING in my absence from blogging, which I will hopefully get round to posting in the next day or two.

Til next time!
